“Let’s,” answers Fred - and a bit uneasily, at that. As they depart
Belboz’s chamber, leaving the old sage to brood over his tome, he looks
down at the strange fiery rune that has been seared deep into his flesh
and ponders it’s actual relevance. He’s no scribe or occult lore master,
and is unable to decipher it’s true meaning. It seems so....final,
though. Eternal, really....as if his very soul has been
branded.... “Fear not,” intones the voice of Titan in his head. “All will be well! I owe you an eternal debt of gratitude for freeing me from the clutches of Belboz.” “What about his insistence on the head?” asked Fred. “Surely I cannot hand over such a valuable appendage! I must present the head of the beast before the King as proof of it’s demise , as per tradition.”“Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” replies Titan, oblivious to his own pun. “Before leaving these caves, it is true that you will likely have to confront Belboz. He has many ulterior motives, and is no friend of the King. But that’s after we find and kill the dragon, who should be slumbering in it’s den. Indeed, you are right, however. We must NOT let that knotted old fiend get his clammy hands on that head.” As they put more and more distance between Belboz and his chamber, Fred is forced to light a torch. Also, the air temperature continues to rise steadily as they delve further and further into the bowels of the underworld. After about an hour of trudging along, Fred happens upon…
