"Sorry, ma'am, you have already had ten calibrations, at no charge, even though only five free calibrations are provided a year." He sees her getting worked up in the face, so hurries to complete his point. "It is two feet! You walk all around the mall, but you can't walk two feet?"

Mrs Gradon shakes her bony finger at Joe, raising her voice. "Young man, I can walk two feet, but I refuse to! I pay a hefty monthly fee for a premium spot, and your literature says that I should be deposited right at my car door when I use my personal shortcut!"

"Ma'am, the fine print says..."

"Don't you quote fine print to me, sonny!" she exclaims, pressing the button on her tiny earwig for phone access. "Suzanne Margaris, please" she says crisply, grinning an evil smile.

Joe sank back into his chair with a sigh as Mrs Gradon walked out of the room. He then told Steve to start her free calibration. Suzanne Margaris was Customer Services Manager, Shortcuts and Service Branch. If she had her direct line, then he was screwed.

Mrs Gradon did not even bother coming back into his office. Joe's phone rang, and he informed Suzanne that the calibration had been taken care of. Suzanne also pre-authorized ten more calibrations, and then a reset count after that, and then a yearly ten instead of five from now on for one of her "VIP customers". Bullshit.

Joe made a special effort to 'accidentally' dispose of all of Suzanne's favorite creamers into the disposal unit. "Bitch," he said with a sneer. Of course, she would get more pretty effortlessly, but it was the principle of the thing. Unfortunately for Joe, as soon as he came into his office, he had to deal with another 'big problem'...
