Having no further danger present itself, Fred and Astra reach the south
gate. There are six guards there, the gate itself being about thirty feet
wide and with a huge metal frame currently swung inward. This strikes Fred
as strange, since the city appeared to be (at least, from a distance)
without walls. As they get in earshot, they hear Velus talking to one of the alert-looking guardsmen. They are currently barring the way with polearms topped with curved, elongated blades. "My friends are coming, maybe you will believe them." and then he turns to Fred and Astra. "Fred, Astra, please explain to these gentlemen that we are here for food, lodging, and to get out of the dark. Oh, also, I mentioned that we were sent here by a wizard to save them from their curses." An audible groan escapes Fred as he bows before the guards formally. "My name is Frederigo D'Honaire, and this is the lady Astra. We became stranded here via a strange portal, and we seek shelter for the night. Could you please point in the direction of an Inn, good sirs? Also, please pardon our over-excited friend Velus, he has been traumatized too much lately, I fear." At the word portal, the two guards with the crossed pole arms breathed a sigh of relief and opened up the way. One of them spoke when Fred had finished. "Ah, that kind of thing happens from time to time. Magic is very unstable in the waste. Follow this road north all the way to the Travelers Inn, and welcome to Travelers Pointe, oasis of peace in the madness that is The Dead Waste." And so they entered....
