Turning around, Scott sees a handsome man, wearing an ornate white robe
with gold trim. "Scott!" the man says, "You are in pain, let me help you."
Scott tries to walk away, but finds himself strangely unable to. The man walks closer, and in his eyes which are the deepest emerald green Scott sees the ageless eons. "Who are you?" asks Scott, as the man takes his arm like an old friend. "My name is Lucifer, Scott. I am from the Tower. You have been hurting too long. Let me heal your wounded soul." A sense of peace overwhelms Scott, as the man places his hand over his chest. "All you have to say is that you will do some work for my floor, and all the pain will be gone. One hundred assignments, none longer than one hundred years, and you can work at your own pace most of the time." Scott pulls away, and scowls. "Please," he scoffs "I have been offered so many deals, and never do they end up causing anything but more pain to myself and others, and chaos, and" but then Satan grins. "I will make this easy. True immortality, limited cosmic powers, and you will work as an Agent of my Floor. This will exempt you from certain" and he chuckles "obstacles and troubles. After your assignments are done you keep the immortality or, if you prefer..." and at this Satan snips his fingers like scissors. "eternal rest instead." Scott thinks about this, wanting more than anything to be above loneliness, above pain, to be truly free. "I..." What does Scott say?
