The Never Ending Quest - Episode 6138

Fred folded his arms and appraised the blacksmith warily. "What do you mean by 'it'?" he demanded.

The smith quickly jumped over the counter and jogged past Fred. He removed a set of keys from his pocket and locked the door to the shop. Repocketing the keys, he ran excitedly into a room at the back of the building, out of Fred's sight. Fred waited as he heard the sound of several locks being unlocked, and the familiar tense clicking of spring loaded traps being disarmed. A big scraping noise then ensued, and then silence.

The smith slowly came into view, carrying a box so large that his beefy arms were at full stretch, and even then he could only just curl his fingers around the sides in order to lift it. Groaning with the effort, he hoisted the massive box onto the wooden counter, which sagged noticeably under the weight. "This......is 'it'." gasped the red-faced smith.

Fred stared at the box. It was made of a smooth green metal, and a door was set into its side, with a shiny silver doorknob glinting invitingly in the glow of the blacksmith's forge.

"Open it." said the blacksmith solemnly

Fred looked from the doorknob to the smith and back again, then gingerly reached out and grasped the knob with his fingers. He turned it a quarter and pulled. It opened silently, with nary a squeak or scrape.

Peering inside, Fred saw.......

  1. A beautiful set of golden plate armour.
  2. A perfectly crafted katana, which shimmered with energy.
  3. A rabid chinchilla.
  4. A vortex of sheer unreality in the process of a dire implosion.
  5. Nothing.
