Princess Astra could not believe that she was going to die of blood loss
here on the floor of a torture chamber within the Northern Caves, alone.
Her hands lay to her left, mangled by that idiot of a maniac knight, the
one who called himself Fred. She stared, weakly, at the stumps which met
her gaze at the wrists. She was confused, weak from her trials and
travails, how could this happen? How?!!?
Then a bright light filled the room. Is this the passage to the world of the dead? thought Astra. Have the winged nymphs of the waterworld come to take me to the island of the valiant warriors? she wondered. Then the light faded and Astra looked up at a robed and hooded figure. "You don't look like a nymph," she said, feeling faint, the blood loss very great with a pool coagulating about her body. "Sorry," said the robed figure. "I need to do this." "What?" said Astra, she felt a pinch at her throat and then nothing. The robed figure stood up from her task, sheathed her now bloody knife and looked wistfully at Astra's punctured throat. Then the light returned and the figure disappeared into it. Then Fred returned. "Look Toots," he said, then stopped when he saw the dead amazon. He stood in silence for a full minute then said: "HEY, I cut your hands off, I did NOT knife your throat!" Then he stood in silence another minute. "Wait a minute, if I didn't knife you, then that means... someone else is in here!" Fred quieted himself, stood very still for a moment, then began to whistle nonchalantly and edged his way out of that particular torture chamber.
