Hot Dog & Hot Damn

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 53327

Struck by inspiration concerning his beloved forklift, Josh requested and received permission from the company for some overtime so that he could make what he called "improvements". Amazingly, Josh's employers never asked exactly what he had in mind for his forklift.

But Josh knew. And his connections to a major automobile manufacturer were already on the job. Late one night, Josh waits with "Betty Sue" for a black truck. At the stroke of midnight, his friends from the car company arrive, and they quickly load up "Betty Sue" into the back of the trailer. Josh climbs into the cab.

"Let's make this quick. I need to have her back here by Monday at four," he instructed the driver.

Josh went back home by five in the morning, leaving his comrades hard at work at modifying "Betty Sue". They knew that they'd have to work almost non-stop to have the forklift back in Josh's possession by Monday.

Finally, two hours before Josh was scheduled to return to work, "Betty Sue" was dropped off at the warehouse. It now had a Hemi engine in it.

And boy, Josh couldn't wait to try it out!

Clocking in several minutes early, Josh raced back to find his beloved forklift. He already had his assignments for the evening, so all he had to do was hop on and start "Betty Sue" up. Josh anxiously slid into his seat, and his hands trembled as he started the machine up. He would slowly pull into the aisle.

What's this? A completely clear path from here to the other side of the building? At least a quarter of a mile completely free of obstacles? Yes!

Josh lost his mind. All he could think was "FLOOR IT!"

The next few minutes were a blur, but Josh could only vaguely remember a lot of screaming, the sounds of twisting metal grinding against concrete, a ton of destroyed goods, and some kind of alarm echoing in his head. He had no idea how fast he was going, but he was willing to bet that he had reached top speed before the accident. It was too bad, Josh thought, that he hadn't gotten a chance to get onto the highway yet.

But hold on...where was Josh now?

  1. A hospital, in the ICU.
  2. Jail.
  3. Mental hospital.
  4. About 600 feet from the accident scene. Josh had fallen off "Betty Sue" almost immediately upon acceleration. The forklift was completely unmanned when it crashed.
  5. Texas.
