Flower of the Darkness
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 42891

Fred and Rikotyuki travel down the darker, lower tunnel and are
surrounded by an almost impenetrable darkness, pierced only by the light
of the dimming torch clasped in Fred’s left hand, while his sword was
held even tighter in his right hand. Rikotyuki now traveled behind him,
crossbow loaded and ready, his eyes deftly scanning the area for a sign
of a foe.
In a barely audible whisper, Fred declared, “…Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea…” And he was chilled to the bone as a low moan echoed throughout the ever-descending tunnel. Rikotyuki’s suddenly whispered to him over his shoulder, "Maybe we should not have come down this way; I don’t think the way to the dragon went this deep into the caverns..." There was a slight pause, but then he continued, "I have heard rumors of strange flowers somewhere deep within the caverns that have a strange affect on the inhaler of their toxins... maybe we should head back?" Fred was annoyed that Rikotyuki withheld this information after they had come so far along the passageway, and abruptly turned and immediately his face lit up in curiosity as his focus went past the rat-archer and fell upon a remarkably beautiful flower that took root behind a rock in the passageway, which they were unable to see as they passed by from above, but no such barrier existed from the side they now stood on. And he immediately forgot everything else. Not needing audible words, the bioluminescent flower seductively called out to him and beckoned him to come closer, to examine it. Rikotyuki’s pleas for him to leave the flower alone seemed to be distant from him as he silently moved towards the flower. But what would he do? Somehow, a voice inside him called out to him and pleaded with Rikotyuki, "Don’t do it!" But another voice, that of the flower’s said, "Smell my fragrance." Fred is...
