"What the hell are you doing?!" Checkers said as Fred bent over to give her
a kiss. She slammed her hands together in front of her, producing a bolt of
blue light that hit Fred with the power of a thousand lightning flashes. He
was thrown into the wall and knocked his head. Everything went black.
When Fred woke up, Checkers was gone. All that was left was a few black feathers and Belboz' dead body. The dagger was gone from his forehead. Fred got up and rubbed his head. "I guess I shouldn't have tried to give her that kiss..." Then he suddenly realized that a trail of black feathers led through the cave. Unfortunately, if he followed it, he would be going away from the Dragon's lair instead of towards it. "It would be nice to meet Checkers again, though," Fred thought. "Maybe I would get a chance to apologize to her..."
