A knight out... numbered.

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 38805

Fred brought the hilt of his sword down on the back of Belboz skull, thinking "I should have done that in the first place". He straightened and adopted a defensive fighting stance.

The first of the black knights stepped into the chamber.

"You summoned us my lord?"

The knight's eyes went from Fred to Belboz, lying unconscious at his feet. He drew his sword, slowly and menacingly. The other knights in the party mirroring his every move.

"What manner of cur is this, who dares to interfere with our master Belboz?"

"I am Lord Fred," said Fred, "bravest knight in the land. I have bested your master, and if you dare challenge me, I will best you too!"

"Lord Fred, is it?" laughed the black knight. "We are many Lord Fred, and you are but one. You cannot take us all. We shall overwhelm you, if not by skill, then by sheer weight of numbers."

Fred stared straight into the dark figure's eyes and...

  1. charged, sword raised.
  2. drew the ring from the pouch... they were not to know it was now powerless.
  3. said, "I am not fooled, you are but one, though your illusion is very clever."
  4. placed the tip of his blade against Belboz' neck.
  5. then turned and ran.
