Fairy-Land!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 3809

Fred, still dazed by all that's going on, follows the fairy through the woods on a long walk until they finally arrive at a cave.

"Where are we?" Fred asked, not quite sure why he was following some fairy.

Without responding, the fairy simply looked at the entrance to the cave and started chanting a short poem:

"Look at me! I'm a fairy!
Tiny, cute, and not too hairy!
Show me the land, you cheerful friends,
where happiness and love never end!"

Fred stood and stared wide-eyed as the effects of the fairies words took place before him. The cave sparkled and glowed with magic power and transformed before his eyes into a huge, sparkling gateway to the fairies underground cavern. A long stairwell beckoned Fred to travel down to the fairies' lair.

Audrey buzzed - it was the only word to describe the way she traveled through the air - into the entrance and down part of the stairwell. She stopped when she noticed that Fred wasn't following him. "Well, come on, silly, we need your help!!"

Fred just standed there, bewildered at what just happened. He had heard of magical beings in lands far from his castle, but never really believed what he dismissed as peasant folk tales. "How....how did you do that?" he stammered.

"That? You mean the gate thing? Oh, that's simple you little cutie, it's just the basic doorway revealing spell. Come on down here and I'll show you the rest of us."

Fred didn't quite know what to do, but he slowly trotted down the stairs following the perky Audrey. When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Fred found himself in a huge, shiny, pink cavern, filled with little fairies just like Audrey.

Audrey buzzed forward and yelled to the rest of the tribe "Everyone! I've brought back someone to help us negotiate with the Morlogs! Meet Sir Frederigo the Adventurer!"

All the fairies turned to face Fred. "HI FRED!" They all yelled in high, perky voices.

"Whoa, wait a minute," Fred said, now broken free from at least part of his dazedness. "I never agreed to help you negotiate with anyone."

With this, several of the fairies laughed.

"What's so funny?" Fred asked, feeling like he was trapped in some weird Disney movie.

"Oh, humans," one fairie said, "they're so cute when they try to act like they're in charge."

Fred did not like the sound of that. "What's going on?" he demanded. "Where am I, and what am I doing here?"

Audrey buzzed forward from the crowd of fairies. "You silly little goober! We know more magic and have more power than you will ever have, so don't try to make any demands from us. Luckily, we're the happy, friendly type so we'll at least clue you in as to what tasks you'll be performing for us. We have a bit of a...dispute with the Morlogs, and we need someone to negotiate for us. The thing is, they refuse to negotiate with us fairies. They won't talk unless we get a human ambassador."

"And I'm it," Fred finished.

"Well..." Audrey answered, "sort of. We're not actually going to let you do the talking. You'll be completely under our control, of course."

"WHAT??" Fred yelled. "You want to control my mind! No, that's ridiculous, I refuse!"

Audrey giggled. "Now, now, Fred, don't argue with us."

"And why not?" said Fred. Suddenly, there was a poof of smoke, and Fred regretted having said that. He was now fully clad in a ballerinia's outfit, and his original clothes were nowhere in site. "Ahhhh!" he screamed. "Get me out of this!" There was another poof and his original clothes were back.

"Now," Audrey said, "you will do as we say and there will be no more nasty fighting, ok? We fairies don't like fighting. We like smiles!"

Fred tried to argue, but couldn't. In fact, Fred suddenly found that he had lost total control over his body. "What's happened?" he thought.

"We've taken control of you, of course," answered some fairy in the group.

"Oh, no," he tried to say. What came out of his mouth was "Oh, yay, how fun!! Now I can enjoy all the happiness of a fairy!"

"That's better," another fairy said. "Now, Fred, you have a mission to do, so get to it!."

"Okay!" said Fred, smiling gleefully and prancing back up the stairs to find the Morlogs. "I have to got to get rid of this spell," he thought. "If anyone sees me acting like this, my reputation is ruined." His body, not listening to his thoughts, continued happily up the stairs.

"BYE FRED!" he heard the fairies yell back at him.

  1. The fairies send Fred to negotiate with the Morlogs.
  2. The fairies send Fred to the Morlogs, but not before he acts like a perky idiot in front of all his friends and family.
  3. The fairies send Fred to the Morlogs, but not before making him act like an doofus in front of his longtime crush.
  4. Fred finds a wizard who helps him break the spell.
