Fred peered down onto the knife the Lava Monster gave him.
"These places are dark and evil," the great beast of fire boomed. "The
Knife of Power can cut any lock, slay any beast. However it can only be
used once. Use it well."
He stomped off into the gloomy passage.
Fred glanced at his surroundings. He was standing next to the lava river
and holding the knife. There were three dark passages - one, the way the
fire dragon had gone (also the way Fred'd come).
There was a small passage that was strangely giving off heat. Darkness and
flame were seeping out of it.
Cries of fear and pain were echoing from the last of the last. Ice and
death almost seemed to run from within.
