Fred stared at the stone wall with disgust. The door had vanished! He
felt like kicking himself for falling into such a simple trap.
He should have known better than to trust a stranger, especially one whom
he had just met within the
very mouth of the Dragon's lair. Belboz obviously must be a minion of the
Dragon for why else would he
have trapped him here.
He cursed his own naivete. But perhaps Fred was being a little hard on himself, for how could he have ever imagined that a fellow human being would sink so low as to join forces with the evil Dragon? How could anyone act in league with the great evil who had terrorized the Great Kingdom, the nasty Dragon who was the bane of Mankind, the tormentor of children, the scourge of farmers and an all around mean beastie? Who was this Belboz that he would do such a thing? What had happened to him to make him so vile? What could possibly have enticed him to sell out humanity? Fred didn't know the answers to these questions and at the moment he didn't really care. His first concern was escaping from this mushroom cave. After that well, whether he got any answers or not the next time Fred met Belboz would be the last time. Meanwhile, on the other side of the cave wall, Belboz rubbed his chin and contemplated what had just happened to Fred.
