Playing As The Doctor

Right now The Doctor found himself on a backed into a dead end. The ground was soft and spongy. Dark brown clouds rolled across the sky. The Doc knew he had to get out of here somehow. Captain Janeway was out there somewhere with a broken leg and Voyager was still two days away.

How did all this happen? Well, of course, he knew how it all happened but the chaos and terror of it all had still suprised him.
The Doc knew he had to get out of her. The Captain was in danger.

He ventured forward. The pathway narrowed. A Tirellian wharf rat scurried out of his way. The fork approached. He had come from the left when he was searching for Captain Janeway. But the Captain hadn't been where he was, so he should go to the right. Or maybe he had missed her before.

Which path does The Doctor take in his search for the injured Captain?

1. He goes left, searching where he had been.
2. He goes right, searching new territory.
