Lord Fred Lectures About Staying on Topic

"Hello. Some of you may know me better as Lord Frederigo D'Honaire. My friends just call me Lord Fred. I'm here to talk about a very important issue about these interactive stories you all play, and we live out. This issue is staying on topic.

"Now all of you have your own really great ideas about where you want to take the story next. Some of you think your ideas are so fantastic, it doesn't matter what you do to get to your really great idea. You figure since your idea is so great, no one will mind that you broke the continuity of the story to get there. Well, I believe I speak for all the characters of these stories when I say that we find it terribly frustrating.

"Our lives consist of nothing more than jumping from one author's great idea to another author's great idea. The story never gets developed! While some of these ideas are good, they aren't given a chance to shine. When you have your good idea, we do indeed want you to use it, but we request that you wait for the right time.

"When you add a new episode to a story, try to stick with the same theme and idea that the previous author was working with. This will help to preserve story integrity. This may mean that your really good idea can't be used right away, but don't fear! You can write the story in such a fashion that your idea will be able to fit in. Just take it slowly. If your idea is off-the-wall, you may need to take some time to build up to where you want to take the story.

"I realize some of you may not want to take the time to do this. But let me promise you, the rewards will be quite worth it! Take a look at Scott from Addventure game 3. He behaves like an idiot with his actions having no reason behind them. Several of you have complained about game 3 and how Scott acts like such an idiot. But its not his fault. You have made him that way by not staying on topic with his story. If you focus more on his story, than on your great idea, Scott's story will flourish! He will no longer be an idiot, but the brave, strong, heroic character he was meant to be!

"Take the time to make good stories. Then you will have good stories to read. We will have good lives to live. And everyone will be happy. Thank you."

Lord Fred sits down and the audience applauds his on-topic lecture.

2. All the "you" characters complain about being improperly placed in 3rd person stories.
