The Curse of Frivolity

What is the matter with the girl? Fred thought, frowning. Doesn't she realise that this is a deadly serious and very dangerous quest that we're on?

Could the book somehow be to blame? Apart from having disappeared into thin air a little while ago, it seemed ordinary enough. It was bound in black leather, and the title embossed on the leather in gold leaf was: "A History of Allarian Agricultural Reforms".

Fred flipped it open to a random page, but before he could read anything, he felt a little dizzy. Then the book vanished from his hands, and took up its position on the shelves again.

Fred's dizziness passed after a second or two. What was I thinking about? he wondered. Oh yes, Astra. She's such good fun. Why was I being so priggish? If she wants to play a game of 'tag', then it's fine with me.

"Ready or not, I'm coming," he called, using the traditional form of words that he'd learnt as a child. Then he ran in the direction that Astra had taken,

1. He soon found her.
2. He couldn't find her.
