Fred slowly turned around and gasped when he saw what he had bumped
into. It was a great dragon of stone, big and grey and tall as a house. To Fred's astonishment there was another stone dragon there, exactly like the first one. The two dragons formed a great gate; a wide brick road ran through it and disappeared into the green hill-country that surrounded the small town to the west and south. To the north Fred could see a thick, black forest running along the Southern Mountains from which he had come. If he were to return to the King's City, the forest might be a better way than trying to get back into the Caves. The small village lay on a hill under the shadow of the Southern Mountains, and Fred now looked down upon the enormous grassy plains in the west and south. He felt the urge to go out there and explore, to set his feet where no man had ever walked before. The Plains of Asnat no one had explored before; Allaria was more large enough for its limited population to thrive (there were particularily some parts of Northern Allaria that were empty except for the animals and the few soldiers who were stationed at the outposts in the areas). "Sir, do you need some help?"
