The Battle of the Silver River

The two forces met on the bank of the small fast flowing Silver River some distance from the castle. Lord Fred reached the spot first and simply stood waiting. He could see that it was a large body of knights, 60 or 65, clad in the black and silver of King Coyle's personal guard, the much feared Knights of the Black Branch. And at the very front of the body of horsemen was none other than Coyle's eldest son and heir; Prince Eachan. A man who had long been Lord Fred's bitter rival in war and achievement, who had once attempted to have Fred exiled from the Kingdom of Guthrie. His hated foe. Eachan's men reigned in their horses a little from the bank and himself trotted forward to stare quizically at his massive rival. Lord Fred felt an overpowering urge to crush the royal twerp then and there, but that small part of him that still maintained its grip on sanitity held him back. For now. "My dear Lord Frederick, it seems you have become more than twice the man you were before. You know of course that as a giant can not remain a Lord you must forefit your lands and leave Guthrie evermore." smirked Prince Eachan, continuing "unless of course you can find a cure. May I suggest going around on your knees?" to sound of nasty laughter from his men. Laughter which died down when they saw Lord Fred's grim expression. "I have no desire to force you" began a somewhat less confident Eachan "but I'm willing to do so. Go now...or else!" Part of Lord Fred really did want to go without causing trouble, wanted to find a cure to his height and his state of mind without causing any serious trouble, let alone bloodshed. It was not enough. The mind control of the potion was still too strong and before the horrified eyes of the knights Lord Fred squashed the obnoxious prince flat, swung his cudgel in an arc that smashed two dozen knights from their saddles and crushed ten more beneath his feet. Screaming in terror the much vaunted Knights scattered in all directions hoping to get away from this monster as fast as their horses could carry them.Lord Fred suddenly had an open route to the castle.
