How could this have happened? wondered Fred. What could possibly motivate a woman to fall in love with a... thing like that? Well, it didn't matter. The situation looked hopeless, but he would make sure that he went out with honor. With a great war-cry, he lunged at the dragon, brandishing his mighty blade.

The blade broke instantly on the scales of Malthor. He turned his head, opened his maw, and fried Fred to a crisp.

  1. Fred goes to heaven.
  2. Fred becomes a ghost, destined to haunt the earth until Malthor is killed.
  3. For reasons that aren't entirely clear, Fred is transported to another dimension.
