"Lord Fred's journal. I have been rescued by a band of valiant men who
sail ships throughout the darkness of space. They have vast magic at their
command. It is to boggle the mind. They keep reassuring me that this is
not magic, just advanced technology. I am not fooled. Maybe it is they who
are not fooled. They have boxes in the wall that can create food on
command. They have small, metal squares that can call up all sorts of
information with the pressing of buttons. They can exist in space itself!
Fortunately they are men of good heart. Their leader is Captain Picard, a bald man but has the aura of command. He is well-listened to. I saw him mediate a dispute between two crewmen who were assigned to a recreation room at the same time. The second in command is Riker. He is a large man, a full head taller then me. He is well popular with the crew, playing instruments even with the most juinor ensign. There is also Data, who is golem suffused with the spirit of a human. Geordi, who runs the mysterious 'engines' and is blind, though he can see. And many, many, many others. Picard has informed me I am stuck with the crew for a while...
