Astra remained silent, refusing to answer Reaibn. This absolutely
ridiculous get-up, she had not put it on. It had put itself on, and
she had been completely unable to remove it. Now, at this table, she was
through putting up with this madman. "Lord Fred, can you pass the bacon?"
"Of course," he replied, and passed the massive platter over to her. Reaibn watched her take a few pieces, load up her plate with other food, and waited until she had her mouth full to speak again. "Widdle girls who stay up too late and then pout and won't talk to their betters don't get bacon!" Reaibn declared, and then made a gesture. All of the food on Astra's plate vanished, replaced with a gooey green paste. "There you go, widdle girl, have some pureed peas!" everyone at the table then laughs, except for Lord Fred and, of course, Astra. Lord Fred could not take any more of this. "Enough, Reaibn!" he exclaimed, prompting a frown from the latter. "Restore her plate and let us eat as adults, your games are tiring me!" Reaibn sighed, and waved his hand, restoring not only Astra's food but her clothes as well. "Very well, sire,, but you are going to learn to appreciate what I have to offer. You both are going to learn. I am suddenly not hungry." He got up from the table and stormed out, calling back "See you in the main hall in an hour to discuss today's coronation." Lord Fred and Astra ate in silence for a few moments, then he asked everyone in the room to leave. They all complied, agreeably, and Lord Fred finally had some time to speak to Astra in peace. "My Lady, I am so sorry..." he began, and she interrupted him. "Not you fault, Fred," she said, "but we have to get out of here. Please tell me you agree with me. We cannot stay in the lair of this lunatic one more day."
