Fred gaped in disbelief at the cavern that now housed nothing but a dead
Dragon. How in the world could anyone have picked the hoard clean in the
short time Fred was gone? There had been tons and tons of gold here. Even
with an entire army doing the transporting, it would have taken weeks! "I knew it!" Fred groaned. He had lost Velus' weight in gold by dragging the boy to safety. Still, it had been the right thing to do. A note had been left in the middle of the cave. It was pinned down with a single remaining gold piece. Fred picked it up and read: "Dear Dragon Slayer. Thanks very much for all the wonderful loot! I'll be sure to buy my wife something nice. Signed, the Psycho Rogue. P.S - HaHaHaHaHaHa HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa, etc." Of course! Fred gritted his teeth as he crumpled up the paper. The Psycho Rogue was a notorious wizard-thief who specialized in stunts like these. Once, he had stolen the entire palace of King Varzobas IV - it was found later, stripped of it's priceless ancient tapestries, in the middle of the desert where it remains to this day.
