The Scepter of Saint Valentine

The little man was annoyed at Fred, and demanded an answer.

"Sorry. I thought that you were threatening me when you told me to stop, and so I made up the centaur girl. I thought that it would be ridiculous enough to defuse the tension."

"Hey, don't do that, man! I don't want none of them centaurs or magical critters trespassin' on this here property. Bad enough that I am stuck in here with the boily-springs, and at three inches to boot. Wish I could undo that, but what can ya do? Who are you, and why are you here? Did Belschnoz send you?"

"I thought that he said his name was Belboz, but yes, he sent me. I am Lord Fred of the Duchy of Suffex. In exchange for a spell to protect me from the dragon's breath, I am to fetch the Scepter of St. Valentine."

"Belboz is a flippin' idiot. He has been told several times by the boss that it can't be done, but that blowhard won't listen.

"Why can it not be done?"

"It ain't a real stick, for one thing. The Scepter of Saint Valentine is

1. a rock fermation, way out yonder. It's about twenty times as big as you. Good luck in moving it."
2. a book kept by the Dragon. You get the book, you don't need a spell to protect you from his breath. Belboz is rippin' you off."
