It was not the dragon's cavern. It was shaped like a capital L with the
exit/entrance at the top. There were rolling doors to close and secure the
place. It was daytime but fog obscured the area twenty yards out. It seemed
to be grassland lining a forest. Back inside the caverns was what seemed to
be a library packed up in dozens, hundreds of boxes. Books, tables,
plumbing supplies, cleaning supplies, chairs, even windows. Almost an
entire library was torn off it's foundation and put in here.

The fog gets thicker. Fred lights some water-safety lanterns and shuts the doors.

Fred 'rides' the wheeled doors.
-
Fred finds a boring book about a malcontented, narcoleptic librarian called Mike Cain. Out of fascination at the 'cart-wreck' of the book, he continues reading.
-
