"How are the crew taking it, Chakotay?"
"Not so good." he replied. The human's commanders sat at a table in the
beach resort, slumped over some drinks Neelix called 'Mai Tais'.
"I don't understand." Janeway said. "Why did Q dump is in this
dimension? That was just mean!"
"Another drink, milady?" asked a waiter.
Janeway looked up. Q stood there, wearing sandals, an apron and an
extraordinarily loud Hawiain shirt.
"Q!" Janeway exclaimed. "What's going on?"
"Send us to our home dimension."
"My dear lady." Q scowled. "Do you always let the hired help become so
impudent?"
"Enough with the mind games, Q. We want to go home. Our real home. Will you
send us there?"
"And miss all the fun?
"Actually, Captain. I'm here to deliver a warning. Quit messing around with
reality like that. You're lucky enough I was able to convince the continium
to banish you here to this dreary dimensional corner and not utterly
destroy you all."
Q snapped his fingers and leashes and collars appeared around the two
human's necks. Q held the leashes in his right hand.
"STAY!" he commanded and gave them a jerk. The two tumbled, taking the
table with them. Chakotay scrambled up but Q was gone.
Scott leaned against one of the mutitude of computers set around the
astrometrics lab. A giant overhead view of the Delta Quadrant was set up on
the screen. Most of the bridge crews stood in the room, wearing glum
expressions.
"This doesn't look good, folks." human Ensign Kim said. "Long range
scans show, well, nothing. Class M planets, a few space-faring races,
but..."
Human Chakotay stepped up. "What Ensign Kim is trying to say is that it
looks like the Preservers never made it around the galaxy in this
dimension."
Scott gasped. The Preservers had been a race of beings that spread humanoid
DNA throughout the galaxy billions of years ago. Without them, most of the
Federation wouldn't exsist! Who knows how many races they were responsible
for jumpstarting? Vulcans...Klingons...humans? Scott felt faint.
-
Scott doesn't take this well at all. He feels responsible.
