On top of Fred's house

A wizard's spell had gone horribly wrong, landing Fred on top of his own
house. It is a cloudly summer day, about noon. Fred pulled himself up with the brick fireplace and looked around. No one had noticed his appearance, for his house was set well back from the path that led into Capitol City. A few sparrows in the thick evergreens that crowded the house might have seen something but they wouldn't talk. The wooden boards creaked as he went to the south side. There, the ground was only ten feet below. He could easily drop to it, slip inside to re- supply, kiss his husband good bye and go back to the caves. Fred drops to the ground. Ezekiel, his pet wolf, comes charging around the corner and attempts to lick his face off. Suddenly a scream comes from inside the house. "Prince Nor!" Fred thinks. "My love!" Fred charges around the house, his pet hot on his heels. The front door, a thick black oak slab, bursts open. Out comes tumbling...
