Some Kind of Mushroom

”How did you know about my curse?” asks Ranma, clearly puzzled.

”Uh…just a guess. It seems that everybody in a magical kingdom such as this one is cursed in one way or the other.”

”But if you don’t know the nature of my curse, how do you know you can cure it?”

”Well, um…this guy here is a wizard of some sort.” Fred points at Belboz.

”Necromancer, actually.” Belboz smiles at Ranma. “Actually, I can help this gentleman with his curse. But before I do so, I need you to fetch for me the Purple Mushrooms of Macedonia.”

Ranma finds a chair and makes himself comfortable. “I’ll wait here, Fred. Once you return with these mushrooms, and my curse is lifted, I will join you on your quest.”

”Where can I find these so-called ‘Purple Mushrooms?’” asks Fred.

”Macedonia, naturally,” explains Belboz. “Although the journey alone would take you over 50 years. Another alternative is to fetch the ones that are growing in this very cave! He points to a previously unnoticed door to the north. Alternatively, you can go down this corridor to the east and face the Dragon all by your lonesome.”

1. Fred goes North, on a sub-quest to fetch the mushrooms.
2. Fred goes East to face the Dragon alone.
