On the basis that "my enemy's enemy is my friend", Fred and Astra are
willing to
work with Malachi. Besides, what other choice do they have? Even as
humans, their
chances of defeating Minestus had seemed small; as demi-foxes, without
Malachi thing would
look hopeless. What is less clear is what they could do for Malachi that
she could
not do for herself.
