1501 A.D. Meets 1511 A.D. (Terra Prime Calender), briefly....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 15452

Now, this all said and done....

Needless to say, things are a touch confused here.

Nantucket's residence were already a bit confused when the lights went on again (briefly) after months of what little power they had left supplied by their "windfarm" going to only the most needed jobs (the hospital and such). Absurd rumors abound. Their had been stupid talk about something about some Star Trek characters running around.

The Council had been in that conference with that one strange young man (but in his favor he'd at least been able to stop Lisketter from speaking yet again) for a while, and while some were wondering just when they'd come out again! However.....

However, when that....island out a ways a bit in the sea suddenly appears out of thin air (actually a massive column of earth and stone displaced from an alien, Earthlike planet) with it's glittering, massive dome (Xoanon's Time Barrer), it causes even the most steady nerved "Yankee" a bit of pause. Oh, it's nothing bad as to block sea ship navigation, this new island, but......

Stuf just like that was so....unnerving, to understate it.

So, practicalities take precedence over raging curiosity at just who this strange group is who came through a strange door that appears out of nowhere. Well, not quiet. A few curious folk of the Council make a half hearted attempts to stick a hand through to wherever this door lead.....only to have their (the Nantucketers' and the Star Fleeters', not the strangers') hands strike something as solid as a wall. However, questions will have to wait.

Seems that something had just come flittering out from that new island out at sea and had just landed and had landed in the middle of the town square.

Seems that the anti-grav's computer still insisted that the ship it was heading for still was at the exact spot, geographically. Despite the fact that the Doctor had been sure that he'd convinced it that it was now twice the distance away from the cave's entrance before....whatever.....had placed the mothership to the other side of Nantucket!

"Never did understand while, Narn Industries insisted on installing the Marc 3's into their products," the Doctor mutters as he pulls out his sonic screwdriver....and then pauses and sighs when he sees the townfolk (looking rather shellshocked) gathering around.

Questions are shouted and demands made, but the Council (with no small effort) to stop an incipient riot....even to get the crowd to back off from the strange craft and let the "Doctor" (not to be confused with the holo-Doctor of the Voyager) and friends get on with getting to that.....spaceship behind them! One council member (who was also a noted Star Trek fan as well as being somewhat familiar with Doctor Who) recognized the Doctor (though wondered just what the third Doctor was doing in what should be an a situation the fourth Doctor handled....would have....or whatever).

"Besides, if he doesn't handle that computer in there," he concludes quietly with the Council Chief, "then the atomic engines will overload....taking him, the Doctor, and half the planet with him! The whole process would take twenty four and a half minutes from start to end......when Xoanon finally feels threatened enough!"

About the time for one "Dr. Who" episode, the man adds quietly to himself.

"I don't believe I'm having this conversation," the Chief mutters to himself.

Well, they said that the Chaos Energy was still about....and all sort of strange things go about with it! he continues, mentally sighing.

Meanwhile, a short conversation between the Doctor's group (who'd left Terra Prime back in 1501 AD, Terra Prime calender) and Queen Astra's group is rather short. Before the Queen can intercede, a quick exchange of names happens between the two groups of Champions. See, she'd already guessed that this group was from her past (the Doctor and the others had been rather vague about the events surrounding their adventure with Xoanon in the Dr. What universe).

Frankly, the problem here was that if too much information was exchanged here that could have changed her past.....something else besides a change in the past would have happened. See, when a certain President of the Time Lords attempted something similar with Doctor Who by using the Time Scoop (Scooping wasn't good for a Time Lord's past stability....it was in effect meddling with a Champion's past).....the result was that....parallel versions of the Doctor got Scooped instead. Queen Astra had a feeling that if something similar happened here, that the events leading up to the...er....alteration would get bollixed up royally. Why borrow trouble by meddling in the past?

The Council turns back from watching the ship leave....only to find that "Queen Astra's" group have slipped off somewhere out of sight!

Having shed notice by the Nantucketers, Queen Astra and friends rush off to their next place of travel. Only to have an interesting encounter with a group of would be conspirators against Nantucket!!

"That was strange," Inquirer mutters as they pile back into the now reprogrammed antigrav transport, "I thought that, despite it all with the Dark Tower being real with the Rules and such....that surely the Gunslinger wasn't......"

Live and learn, she sighs.

At least they'd extracted a promise from the surprised holo-Doctor to come aid after the situation on Xoanon's ship was handled. There may be people who need medical aid....but the situation would be too dicey with a bunch of Voyager yahoos (or any well meaning Nantucketers) showed up to make things.....interesting before hand. Xoanon might make things....too interesting.

"Funny," Elrondir mutters to himself, "I thought that Island in the Sea of Time was a science fiction story."

But here he and the other "races of fantasy" (who were most uncomfortable without magic infusing their essence), walking around.....and magic being able to be called forth......

Something strange, indeed. However, Xoanon was the highest thing on their lists of things to do, here.

Maybe later....

The ride to the ship of Xoanon didn't last long for a long conversation about what it all meant.

The Doctor and the others soon are met by the leader of the Tesh.

"By the Creator!" Elrondir mutters to himself, looking up at the man, "We're off to see the Wizard!"

The Teshs outfits looked like something like the stupid outfits seen on the Munchkins of the Wizard of Oz!

Christopher Stevenson, curious at the noise and a bit wary, walks slowly into the clearing he'd hear the groan coming from and finds......over a dozen young sleeping..... naked elven children?!

A dozen or so....the beginning of what could be an elven tribe....perhaps.

"What the f*ck?" he whispers.

"Sir, do mind your tongue!" a voice calls over from the side, "There are not only ladies present here, but young ears as well!"

The thunderstruck lumberjack turns and sees Count Yorga and friends looking at him sternly.

However, whatever the young lumberjack would have snapped back with next is lost as that shambling mound gives off one last nerve racking moan (whatever intellect having been devoured in this final.....form it now was in) before instinctively heading blindly back to the stone of the Slipgate. It felt itself begin to begin molting yet again....but only to vanish to parts.....unknown to those who watch it goggle eyed.

The others had rounded a set of bushes and seen the departure.

"What in Heaven's name was that?" Count Yarga whispered, horrifed.

"I don't know," Malachi (who'd been in human form) answers earnestly, having over her long lifetime ever laid eyes (or even heard) of such a creature as she'd seen. "But I must say that whatever it was surely is using the.....newest seeming Slipgate terminal I've ever seen!"

"When did this get here?" Christopher Stevenson asks, mind seizing on something more.... normal seeming than the blob....and the sleeping (elven?) children behind them, "It wasn't here yesterday. What in the name of.....what was that thing the.....blob thing zipped out on?"

Several of those of Malachi's group look at each other in askance. The Slipgate system of their worlds were things of legend....and as old as anything in remembrance. How dangerous they could be to use since nobody really knew how to operate them safely....but all know that Slipgates teleported things places.....sometimes thousands of miles away.... All know of what they were (if not all of those of the group knew of Atlantis.

"Oh, it's the Red Pyramid," Astra 5a finally said, "Artemis said that a sign of something wondrous and new....from the days of yore would point us in the right direction in my upcoming Quest. And this Slipgate temerminal is about as 'yore' as you can get!"

The last part is given with a half ironic chuckle as she then turns back to bounce on of her children, who'd awoken and was making some inquiring noises.

Imagine me a mother, she thinks to herself, still amazed.

Yes, she'd always considered taking the life of anyone innocent (whether in the womb or the aged) to be repugnant. Apparently, this sentiment held roots that she'd never expected in her character..... A new maternal side had been revealed, and the amazon was still surprised. However, it left her with a....warm feeling inside all the same.

Anyway, all of what her goddess had said wasn't exactly clear to her, but now it was. Malachi's eyes lit up, nodding.

But I'll need maps of the surrounding lands.... the dragoness thinks to herself, suddenly looking over at the lumberjack with a speculative glance, Unlikely, but perhaps this fellow's people will have access to maps of sufficient geographic accuracy?

Perhaps if she could somehow trace this system by the ley lines it followed....their Quest's destination would be revealed.......hopefully.

On that matter the dragoness thoughts pause as she looks over at the doting mother. This Quest was rather unusual that the children were REQUIRED to come along, but at least the Rules and Agents had made them impervious to injury..... Astra 5a had been adamant that Artemis had decreed she must bring them along.

No amount of arguing would by her fellow adventurers would make her see reason here...

When asked later about which was the next occurrences was the more chaotic, the young lumberjack would have just shrugged. That of the elven children awakening and starting to babble questions in Elf. Their first instinct at seeing their neighbors should have made them run in fear (having never seen a human before), but.....the one with the infants just....made them trust the strangers for some reason. The others situation was the sudden flash of light....and a bunch of new strangers (and strange they were....dressed as people from the Middle Ages) arrived! One of them which....this Astra 5a woman seemed to recognize (despite the fact that he looked just like this other fellow with her group)....

"Fred!" Astra 5a shouts, as she and Fred 5a see each other....

Let us follow....

  1. The Doctor's group?
  2. The Jarlath and friend's groups out in the woods on the mainland?
  3. The group of Queen Astra and Roland back in Nantucket?
