Aqueduct's Hollow

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 1479

The wine cellar was dug from out of the rock and soil of the Shreken and parts of the walls were held back by large wooden planks and beams. Frederigo followed the smallish stream to its mouth; a channel hollowed out of the southernstone. The stone of the channel was intricately carved; depictions of lizards and snakes and other reptiles, as well as toads, newts and amphibians decorated the watermouth. Frederigo had a feeling that there might be here more than meets the eye, he bent down to inspect the watermouth.

It was not as large as he had thought; this would not serve as an exit after all. The channel was three feet wide, but, upon putting his arm into the cold water he discovered it was only inches deep. Still, the pictures and symbols of the stone intrigued him. He thought he could see a pattern in the patterns, perhaps one that meant more than just an artistic endeavor.

Then he heard more evil laughter resounding within the area above the closed wine cellar and he wondered if this was the end.

  1. The odd image of a heron, carved next to a stylized lizard's egg, caught Fred's attention.
  2. The laughter ceased and Fred's anxiety grew three-fold.
  3. A creaking sound alerted Fred that the wine cellar door was being opened...but by who or what?
