Getting control of the situation!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14472

"Correct," Blaine chirped happily, and a clicking sound symbolized his turning off his view of the carriage.

With the temporary departure, the walls go back to normal and thus block out the nightmare scape of the lands outside the supersonic train.

"Okay, first he's screaming in mortal agony...and suddenly he's happy as can be after presented with a pretty little bauble," Dragon Synizn says softly to himself, "Queen Astra is right, it is mad!"

The other new Champions have to agree. Blaines flighty behavior doesn't lend much confidence in it's sanity. Roland and his gang already had known that, though.

"Okay, let me begin before anyone else speaks by asking what the Hell is going on here?" Susannah Dean asks, finally voicing her increasing perplexed feelings, "You appear out of thin air. You have a man here who claims not only to be a mage....but also a dragon from time to time. We have two elves here who'd....and a fairy who...."

"Don't call.....me a fairy!" Ama'lis says in a voice that is full of sudden anger that translates even through her high, squeaking voice. Despite themselves, they feel an electric feel of impending danger in the air from this petite woman.

Roland, seeing instantly what the surprised Susannah Dean had done, quickly stepped forward to sooth the enraged Ama'lis' ruffled feathers.

"Sorry, Faire One," Roland says in a soothing voice, "She didn't mean anything by that! She doesn't know...."

The small, winged blue haired woman and the Gunslinger move over to a quiet corner while the others of Rolands group just look at each other, then at the newcomers.

"What? What?!" Eddie Dean asks, looking at the others in bewilderment.

The African American woman also was more than a bit put off at the fairy woman's outburst as well.

"Calling one of the Faire Folk by....that name is basically a racial slur," Astra said softly, looking down at Susannah with a half apologetic smile, "None of the Faire Folk like being called..... Well, it's akin to some less than flattering names I've heard in this English language of yours that are used to insult ‘minorities.' That's not how it is like for them on Terra Prime, but on other Terra's where my sisters are from....."

"I.....uh," Susannah blinks, "I didn't know....."

God, I never dreamed that I would have hurt the feelings of a fugitive from a J. R. R. Tolkien novel, she thinks to herself, embarrassed despite the ridiculous absurdity of it all.

Ama'lis, meanwhile, has flown back and lands on Susanah's lap. There is a slightly embarrassed look on her face.

"I believe that I owe you an apology for reacting badly," the fairy woman says sheepishly, "I.....don't know what came over me, really. I mean, I've called myself a ‘fairy' shortly after my transformation (re: 13547) and the word had no insulting nature for me."

"Don't worry, sugar, I.....should have been more choosy with my words," Susannah manages, surprised at the turn about, "I guess it's just part of getting used to being....whatdoya callit?....being a changling?"

"Oldest changling I've ever heard of," Jake mutters to himself, eyeing the elves and blue haired fairy. He blinks in surprise as they turn and look at him...and smile.

Oops, they heard me! the young boy thinks.

That done, Roland then turns to the matter at hand.

"Okay.....now we must plan how to win against yon monster," he says, gesturing at the route map that Blaine spoke through, "But instinct tells me that our best hope perhaps lays within our new friends?"

  1. "Yes, I believe so," Astra says, pulling forth her Star Fleet delta communicator, "but if I can bring one more friend into the fray....I will feel better about this."
