Boss Fight!

The attack bounced off an invisible forcefield, and Mike bounced back, staring at the Rune Dagger. At least it wasn't nicked.

"Hee hee!" said Rassilon. "You'll have to do better than that, human boy!"

Rassilon's aura began to glow with white hot rage. An Aura Crystal appeared in the air above his head. "Take this, interloper!" he screamed and shot the Crystal right into Mike's hex. The results were loud, bright and painful. Mike found himself on the floor, in severe discomfort, but at least still far from dead. He got up, thinking fast. Of course! The Dispel Bean he always kept in his pocket! Mike pulled it out and held it aloft.

"Power of the Ancients, protect from evil!" Mike shouted and threw the Dispel Bean at Rassilon. However, it bounced ineffectually to the floor.

"Fool!" Rassilon taunted. "Prepare to die!"

His fingertips crackled with the frightening energies of the Mystic Lightning spell. Mike's hair stood on end, and then he realized the split second difference between being and doing and lunged at Rassilon again. Once more, his dagger bounced off the forcefield.

"Dammit! Why can't I damage you!?" Mike shouted just as the lightning picked him up and threw him across the room. Mike lay dazed. This was one fight that he might not be able to win without his friends. Still, he wasn't about to just give up! He rooted about in his backpack and pulled out a Healing Herb. Swallowing it, he could feel his HP returning.

"Allright let's give it one more shot!" Mike shouted, and traced the ancient sigils of the Shatter Strike in the air with his dagger. It was a dangerous move, capable of making him extremely vulnerable to counterattack. But Mike couldn't think of any other way of destroying that forcefield. He launched himself into the attack...

And with a fearsome crash, the formerly invisible forcefield became what looked like solid glass and shattered into countless pieces. Rassilon howled in rage, and flung Mike away with a simple Power Blast. Mike slammed into the wall, aching, but more sure of himself.

"It's showdown time!" he yelled.

"Wrong." Rassilon grinned. "I know just what to do with you now."

Rassilon bent his left pinkie finger to an unnatural angle, and Mike suddenly found himself being raised into the air by some unseen power. He tried to thrash about, but his limbs did not obey him. Mike could only swivel his head and shout, angrily, "Put me down, you big ape!"

"You have two choices now, ill-mannered stranger." Rassilon said, seeming to compose himself. "Either introduce yourself and listen to what I have to say, or be crushed like an ant. I think you know which is the wiser move."

Mike reflected on this. "Allright, I'm sorry. I guess I overreacted. Please set me down and I'll do as you say."

"That's better." Rassilon said. He unbent his finger and Mike toppled to the ground.
