"Where did she go?" Fred asked Velus in puzzlement. Velus replied, via the coded barks that he and Fred had developed, that the wind must have been magically generated by the dragon/wizard with the aim of blowing out Fred's torch. Once that was done, he could abduct the princess from under Fred's nose. "But why didn't she cry out when she was abducted?" Fred asked.

  1. Velus suggested that perhaps it had happened too fast, or maybe she had been magically inhibited from doing so.
  2. "Because I haven't gone anywhere," the princess's voice said, making them jump. "I don't know why it was done or who was responsible, but I seem to have been made invisible."
