That was odd, Fred thought. He was retracing his inward route, and the girl
hadn't been there when he'd passed that way before. She was very
beautiful, and the
flimsy lace chemise that was all she wore clung to her body in a most
alluring way. Her
pale face was framed by long dark hair. He guessed she was aged about
twenty.
"Where did you spring from?" asked Fred, as he prepared to attempt to cut her chains with his sword. "I've been here all along," she said, "but the dragon's spells meant you were unable to either see or hear me before. That you can do so now must mean his spells are no longer in force, which must mean you have killed him. What a glorious thing to have done! You must be very brave. My name is Leonora, by the way. I'm the daughter of the Duke of Collins."
