Tesminus thrust a hand into each of the two deep pockets of his robe, and was startled when in one his fingers encountered something that felt very much like a doll. Hoping that he had managed to keep his surprise from showing in his facial expression, he said: "My pockets are empty."
Lil gave him another look that he could not read. He was afraid that she might challenge him, but instead she said: "That is most curious. Very well, you may go." He could not leave fast enough. When he returned home, he removed the doll from his pocket. It was a strange thing. It portrayed a naked man with green hair. The figure was anatomically correct in every detail, and - most startling of all - had a very obvious erection. What sort of toymaker would make something like that, and what sort of parents would give it to their daughter as a plaything?! The thing gave him the creeps, so he threw it on the fire that was blazing in the hearth. Then he had a terrible fright, for the thing screamed in agony. Only for a few seconds, for it didn't take long before it was reduced to ashes, but it left him in a state of shock.
