"Good. But remember that I said that you must agree before I would even consider your amended contract. Now I'm considering it... I am willing to agree to your five silvers a week, exorbitant though it is, but a ten gold piece bonus per magic mushroom is out of the question. You may be under the impression that the mushrooms are far more potent than they actually are. With the number that would probably be necessary to have the desired effect, it would be horrendously expensive. I propose a two gold piece bonus per mushroom. I think that's more than fair. Remember that if we can't reach an agreement, you and your family get no protection from me whatsoever. And I could force-feed you the mushrooms anyway."

Astra sighed. "It seems that men are all the same, even when they're partly a dragon. But make the bonus four gold pieces per mushroom and promise me that you can prevent me from suffering any back pain, and I'll sign your damned contract."

1. "Agreed." Minestus produces an amended declaration which they both sign after Astra has read it carefully.
2. "No. Two gold pieces is my final offer."
3. Further negotiation.
