When Astra regained consciousness, she found herself lying on a pile of
straw in
a dungeon cell. Looking at her through the barred window in the cell's door
was a tall, good-looking, dark-haired woman. Astra noticed that the woman
wore
in her hair the clasp that
she had found earlier. Was that what the pursuit had been about, she
wondered.
When she saw Astra move, the woman spoke: "So, you are awake, wretch. You shall find out what happens to anyone unwise enough to steal Zodin's hairclasp. The irony is, that had you only been aware of its powers you could easily have escaped my men. By the way, I've used it to magically heal your thigh. I wanted you to begin in perfect condition. "But I think I recognise you. It's Astra, isn't it? I'd heard that Minestus had you, but I assume you somehow escaped his cluthes. Well, my proud princess, you'll soon find out you were better off with the dragon. Whilst you've been down in the caverns, I've taken over most of your country, [9723] and when I conquer the capital and am crowned queen I'm sure I can find a suitably menial and degrading job for you.
